“…And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
2 Timothy 2:19-21 KJV
Hello beautiful people! So I recently read a book by Rebecca Brown called “becoming a vessel of honour” and the words written in the book really spoke to me so I decided to write on the same topic and I recommend you to read the book. You know,in my home and I think in yours too, there are certain plates or spoons that my mum has left out for special occasions and it only comes out in Christmas or Easter time while the other cheaper ones are readily available anytime for use. This verse is easily relatable because it explains such situations.

I believe what Paul was basically telling Timothy was that for Him to be a man or a vessel God can use for His glory, there are certain things you can do and certain things you should not do. I believe it’s that simple. There are certain sacrifices you just have to make. God loves us so much, and the sacrifices we make are not for Him to love us more,oh no! they are rather for us to love Him more and to be sensitive to His leading so He can use us more.
So I know the next question you would have now will be just as the people had after Peter spoke in Acts 2:37…”what shall we do”?and I have 2 answers to that question which I will briefly look at:
1. Examine thoroughly the state of your heart and see where you are at the moment, considering your actions, remembering the past and learning its true character. If there is anything you have done wrong, please remember:
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 and also,
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1 John 2:1
Learn to keep short accounts with God,don’t let unconfessed sin build up in your life,it can destroy your relationship with God and make you afraid to come boldly into His presence.
2. Fellowshiping with God.
I really can’t overemphasize on this point. Friends, the Holyspirit Himself will help you depart from iniquity, the more intamacy you have with Him,the easier it is for you to say no to sin. That’s the way it goes. Let your love for Christ compel you to depart from iniquity. You can’t do it with your own strength, you can’t, you need a staying power that can only come the more you wait on Him, the more you Love on Him, the more you spend time in prayers,in fellowship with the word;the more you practice His presence, the easier you naturally live a life where you not only are righteous but you also do righteousness.
For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.
Isaiah 40:30-31 MSG
Living a life of righteousness is possible, and it’s the life we have been called to live, but you can’t do it on your own,you need the strength of God derived from waiting on Him.
Starting from today and beyond, why don’t you decide to get more of this strength from waiting on Him,and remember even if you fall, rise again and keep going but don’t expect to fall, rely on the Holyspirit to help you.
I really hope this blessed you today, feel free to like and drop a comment and let’s know how it blessed you. I love you and I’m praying for you!
Till next time,
Remain in God’s love❤.
